Harlem Shake becomes an Internet sensation

The Harlem Shake has taken the Internet by storm over the last two weeks. The song from Baauer came out back in May last year but has only become a hit recently due to it turning into an Internet meme and Youtube hit.

It struck gold when people started recording themselves in scenarios where ordinary situations are occurring while one person who stands out is dancing in funky, weird or hilarious fashion. Then when the beat drops the ordinary scenario turns into a wild party with people dancing, body popping and anything else they can do while some are also dressed in costumes or have nothing on at all!

There have been many versions taken on from Father Ted to The Exorcist and college classes to a bus ride home.

The song is currently number one in the Billboard 100 in the US and was third in last week’s UK official chart. The song is available to download from iTunes and other music online outlets.
