Bestival 2013 Line-up Announced
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Isle of Wight festival line-up includes MIA, the WU-Tang Clan, Franz Ferdinand, Dexys, the Flaming Lips, the Roots and Nile Rodgers
It’s been four decades since he first enjoyed a music festival on the Isle of Wight; Elton John is set to headline Bestival this summer. The 65-year-old singer-songwriter promises to play hits from his album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, which celebrates his 40th anniversary this year, at the annual event.
The second headliner which has been announced is US rapper Snoop Dogg (well…Snoop Lion), while MIA, the Flaming Lips and the Roots will all make their only UK festival appearance of the summer, The Knife and the WU-Tang Clan have also been announced.
Bestival is known for its fancy dress themes, and John added: “As the person who played a concert in New York in 1980 dressed in full Donald Duck costume including webbed feet, I think I know quite a bit about the power and fun of fancy dress! I can’t wait to see the audience at Bestival: they must all look amazing from the stage.”
Other acts to be announced on the bill include Franz Ferdinand, Bombay Bicycle Club, Sinead O’Connor, Belle & Sebastian, Johnny Marr, Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, Jessie Ware, Dexys, Disclosure and Rudimental. The DH line-up includes Richie Hawtin, Seth Troxler, Julio Bashmore and David Rodigan.
The third headliner and more acts are yet to be announced.
