Wireless Festival

Wireless 2011 Sunday Line-Up Preview

With a distinctly hip-hop and urban theme on the Friday, electro dance sounds on Saturday and a band orientated line-up on Sunday, this year’s Wireless looks set to cement itself as a must-see festivals. With premium artists including Black Eyed Peas, Chemical Brothers, Chase & Status and The Streets, Sunday’s line-up looks just as promising to cater for just about every musical taste under the summer sun.

In what looks set to be an impressive close to the three day festival in London’s Hyde Park, Jarvis Cocker’s Pulp are back at the top of the bill. Reforming with original band members Nick Banks, Candida Doyle, Steve Mackey, Russell Senior & Mark Webber alongside the infamous Jarvis Cocker, expect to hear all your favourites including ‘Common People’ and ‘Disco 2000’.

Making a return to music after her 2010 album ‘Hurricane’, singer, songwriter, actress, model and all-round superstar Grace Jones’ career is now in it’s fifth decade. The stunning star was a regular at the famous Studio 54 in the 1970s, as Andy Warhol’s muse, then later went into music with acclaimed albums ‘Nightclubbing’ and ‘Slave to the Rhythym’. Expect a performance of epic proportions as this living legend returns to the stage courtesy of Wireless.

Adding to the host of bands at Wireless Barclaycard Mercury Music Award nominees Foals are no strangers wowing huge crowds with their gritty indie inspired tunes. Hailing from Oxford, the four-piece’s ‘Total Life Forever’ followed up their debut 2008 album ‘Antidotes’ last year, debuting in the top ten. With a lively stage presence way beyond their years and a repertoire of high energy tracks including the catchy ‘Cassius’, their set looks set to shine on the Sunday.

Unmistakably Scandinavian in attitude and style with their own trademark pop-punk sound, The Hives performance at Wireless on Sunday will be marked as must-see on the calendar of thousands of fans. The outlandish group, whose 2001 album ‘Your New Favourite Band’ rocketed them to the public’s attention, have had hits with ‘Hate To Say I Told You So’ and ‘A.K.A I.D.I.O.T’. We can’t wait to see the sharply dressed Scandinavians rock their socks off on the main stage.

Making a much-anticipated return to music is one of Devon’s finest exports, Metronomy. Bursting back on the scene with track ‘The Bay’, which has been remixed by Erol Alkan and Stopmakingme. The four-piece bring their own brand of electro-inspired indie to the masses at Wireless – we can’t wait!

Rounding off the perfect Wireless weekend, Sunday’s line-up at Hyde Park looks set to secure the three day festival as the perfect kick start to summer – let’s hope the weather think so too!
