U2’s ‘360’ Tour is set to Break the record this weekend
U2’s ‘360’ world tour is set to make history by becoming the highest grossing tour in history on Sunday 10th April 2011.
The band are set to play their second show in Sao Paulo in the Morumbi Stadium on Sunday, were they will pass the $588million (£341 million) total grossed by The Rolling Stones, Bigger Bang tour set in 2005/07.
U2’s ‘360’ Tour has sold over 7 million tickets at 110 gigs, also making it the highest attended tour ever. It has been said that when the tour comes to an end in New Brunswick on 30th July, it will have grossed more than $700 million (£428 million).
Manager Paul McGuinness told Billboard setting the biggest tour ever record was something the band are “very proud of having set”.
He added: “And to set it with a further 20-plus shows to go on the tour is kind of mind-blowing. It means that it’s a record that will probably never be outstripped.”
The U2 ‘360’ Tour plays to an average crowd of 63,600 with a gross of $63 million (£3.9 million) per show, since the tour began in Barcelona back in 2009.
U2 are set to headline Glastonbury Festival in the summer 2011.
