The Festival Internacional de Benicàssim (FIB) 2012 Preview

Guys, if you’ve never been to Beni before and you’re debating going this year, stop mucking about and get it booked already… Last year was truly one of the best weeks of my life and I can’t wait for my BenicaDREAM this year!

Situated on the beautiful white Valencian coast the festival combines a world-class line-up of musical heavyweights with a week relaxing on a beautiful beach in zee scorching sun – perfect.

So forget those wellies, rainmac’s and brollies… & grab your sunnies, flippy floppys and speedos!

After last year’s beast of a line-up there have been a few noses turned at this year’s spread…  which is a bit mental. Vince Power has made a steal, he’s thrown in some heavyweight living legends in the form of The Stone Roses & Dylan… Then added a few of the best young bands around right now – The Vaccines, Maccabees & BBC and then brought in some awesome dance acts to finish the job… I mean I’m not an avid Guetta fan (but as a guilty pleasure, the French guy can lay down a great dance track… I’m pretty sure he’s going to smash it!

Here’s the six we’re most looking forward to… Let us know yours; and see you their guys!!!!

The Stone Roses – The Manchester Rock legends are back!!! They’ve got a busy Summer lined-up and will be gracing Beni with a headline performance. Ian Brown and co actually performed at the first ever FIB in 1995!

Florence & the Machine – Miss Welch has hit 2012 like a storm, with new album ‘Ceremonials’ being critically acclaimed. Flo always provides a high energy performance and we can’t wait to see her smash out some new hits alongside her classics like ‘Dog Days’ & ‘Kiss with a Fist’

Bombay Bicycle Club – After wowing crowds at last year’s Beni BBC have been invited back to perform again! Cannot wait to see these guys again, fronted by Jack Steadman, they’ve got it all from acoustic masterpieces such as ‘Word by Word’ to beasty guitar Indie Rock anthems like ‘Evening/Morning’

The Vaccines “What did you expect from The Vaccines” is their debut album, having seen them live on several occasions I can tell you, expect ‘An amazing time and a lot of jumping around’. These guys are awesome live! Reading & Leeds boss Melvin Benn recently touted them and Bombay Bicycle Club as future headliners! Need I say more!

The Maccabees – Yes we like our indie bands! Hailing from Brighton these guys have had a huge 2012 with new album ‘Given to the Wild’ going down a storm (particularly in our office). Can’t wait to catch these guys….

Chase & Status – Another band that is returning for a second successive year! And another one that delivers immensely on a live set!!! Catching them last year at Beni, I would describe the crowd as a warzone (but in a good way if that makes sense) If you’re a fan of moshing and high energy you got to see these guys! Some great tracks & collaborations as well!
