Soundgarden Download 2012 been confirmed
Download Festival organisers have confirmed that Soundgarden are to play the festival for the first time. The American rockers have not played in the UK since 1996 and this will be their debut at download and also Donington in its previous life as the Monsters of Rock Festival.
Soundgarden are the grand daddys of the Seattle sound which hit the alternative rock arena in the early 1990s. Soundgarden reformed last year after 14 years apart, and are promising to release their first album since then later in the year. Soundgarden are likely to preview some of their new material at Download.
Their Badmotorfinger album in 1991 included the singles ‘Jesus Christ Pose’ and ‘Rusty Cage’ their most succesful album was the 1994 Superunknown which hit number one in the US and Number 4 in the UK.

As well as confirming Soundgarden, Download organisers have confirmed 13 other acts including Scottish Rock favourites BIFFY CLYRO who will grace the donington stage for the 5th time.
Comedian and Actor’s comedy group TENACIOUS D are also on the bill.
CHASE & STATUS LIVE will make their debut with their fusion of big beats and dubstep, will reach out to a new audience. They will join rock acts LAMB OF GOD, TRIVIUM and MACHINE HEAD.
Thrash will be catered for by the legends ANTHRAX, who completed 30 years in the industry last year.
Other acts added include YOU ME AT SIX, DEVILDRIVER AUGUST BURNS RED and DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT.
Finally Download sees the reunion of UK Rockers and LITTLE ANGELS and Californian hard rock band UGLY KID JOE.

Download Festival takes places at the iconic Castle Donington on the weekend of Friday 8th June 2012 to Sunday 10th June 2012. Download Weekend Tickets are available at 2011 prices until midday Monday 30th January 2012. After this point prices will be raised to 2012 prices.
