Shrewsbury Fields Forever Tickets less than a week to go
Shrewsbury Fields Forever takes place on 17th 18th September 2011. Not heard of Shrewsbury Fields Forever? Where on earth have you been?! By far the biggest festival to hit Shropshire- ever!
10,000 people in the (hopefully) September sun listening to chart topping band The Charlatans, The DJ’S of the moment Chase and Status and the incredible Fenech-Soler along with many others- Considering it is only its first year the lineup is incredible!
The festival is being held in the heart of Shrewsbury at The West Mid Showground, a perfect site for a festival. There is loads of space for parking, camping and of course stages and it’s a ten minute walk from Shrewsbury train station. Perfect eh?! The site will include a main stage, and two dance arenas- The Invasion Dance arena and The Subsoundz dance arena. There will be a silent disco tent, dedicated food and drink areas, a traditional festival funfair, charity stalls and much much more!
Now, back to the lineup:
Anyone who’s anyone has heard of The Charlatans, an Epic 5 piece alternative rock band. They will be headlining the main stage on Saturday night, playing their classics and a few new tracks.
Other acts on the main stage on Saturday include The Sunshine Underground, an indie-rock band who will be playing songs from their first two albums, as well as some new tracks- showcasing their new sound as a 3 piece.
Shrewsbury band The Taste will also be hitting the main stage led by Danny Parker. Following successful gigs at OsFest and Charity event Quarry Fest, recently signed band The Taste will most certainly be welcomed onto stage by their home town fans. These guys have had an awesome 12 months and Shrewsbury Fields Forever is most certainly going to be one of their highlights.
Chase and Status will be in the Subsoundz Dance arena on Saturday night performing a DJ set. Having seen them for the first time this year in Benicassim I am seriously looking forward to seeing them again- absolute crowd pleasers, and two of the most talented DJ’s I have ever heard.
Some festivals burn themselves out on the first night, not this one. Sunday‘s line up is packed to the brim with talent.
Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe will be headlining the main stage on Sunday night with what will undoubtedly be an incredible DJ set- you do not get to his level without talent, and this bloke his it in abundance.
Also appearing on the main stage on Sunday is electro pop band Fenech-Soler, who have gained themselves critical acclaim from bloggers, music big-wigs and fans alike.
Friends Electric will be joining the main stage line up on Sunday, an electro band who are “on a mission to move feet, not follow trends and put personality back into dance music”.
The Subsoundz dance arena is being taken over by Planet of the Breaks on Sunday and they have got a hell of a line up for you. From the superb Anomalies- a breakbeat/hip hop/ indie band who will blow you away- I personally guarantee that. Also appearing in Planet of the Breaks Sunday session is award winning Krafty Kuts- an electro-breakbeat DJ who has worked with none other than the main man Fatboy Slim himself- doesn’t really get much more impressive than that does it?!
DJ Derek, a ska, reggae and soul DJ who is a legend in his own right will be appearing on Sunday. After spending nearly 20 years working as an accountant he re-discovered his love for music and began playing DJ sets at Glastonbury and The Big Chill, where he is still a regular now. Oh and did I mention he is in his 60’s?!!! Legend!
Also appearing in the Invasion dance arena on Sunday 18th is Radio1 DJ Kissy Sell out ft MC Cobra, who has worked with the likes of Mark Ronson and Gwen Stefani. He will be joined by the likes of Sonny Wharton and Sparky Dog.
There really is something for everyone at this festival, and I suggest that everyone goes and sees something that is out of their comfort zone- something you wouldn’t necessarily go and see, because the talent throughout the festival, be it on the main stage, or in one of the dance arenas is absolutely top drawer and you will not be disappointed.
I will be there on behalf of Love Music News, hope to see you there!
Tickets are available now, but selling quick so if you’re “thinking about it”- DO IT!
