OsFest Special! An Interview with….. Goldie Lookin’ Chain…
With OsFest less than a month away we at Love Music News thought we would have a bit of a catch up with some of the acts, and we caught up with the Eggsy from Goldie Lookin’ Chain, who will be performing on THE MAIN STAGE on SUNDAY 3RD JUNE.
Hey Eggsy, Thanks for chatting to us. This will be the third year you’ve been at OsFest- what do you think of the festival in general?
Great Festival, lovely people and a really good atmosphere. Thanks for asking us back….you rock
What is your most memorable gig? (of yours?)
Most memorable gig has to be the show we did in Japan in 2007 when Mick Jones from the Clash turned up with a Mr. Frosty Machine and 4000 quid’s worth of sushi.
We played to 4000 strong crowd and then got everyone on stage to strip…it was nuts, but sadly we can’t go back again due to legal issues. “Japan is ace”.
What is your Favourite song? (by someone else)
Best song by someone else is probably “Jesus built my Hotrod” by Ministry- they just made the ultimate loud piece of music and it actually scares kids. Either that or anything by Rod Stewart, his music is so sexually charged you can’t help but get some kind of mucus seepage, his gusset must stink of fish…dirty bastard.
What is your Favourite album?
Best Album at the moment is probably Willie Red by Louie Lepkie…he’s dead now but his music makes anyone with half a brain get down….sometimes I put a wig on and dance to it naked but don’t tell anyone…..
Who is your Musical hero?
Probably anyone who can play blues guitar whilst drinking coffee smoking a fag and dumping at the same time usually before nine in the morning…so really it’s my mate Jack Tracy…he’s gone now though…..he isn’t dead, he just moved to Australia but he will probably come home in a box…he loves it out there and I don’t blame him. The weather in this country is atrocious
What is your Guilty pleasure?
Putting on a dress and hiding outside of fellow rapper Mike Balls house waiting for him to come out so that I can chase him up and down the street on his bmx. He loves it…it’s a special game that we have called ballsy chaseys, we’ve been playing it for years but no one else is allowed to play so don’t even ask to join in ok.
Who are you most looking forward to seeing at OsFest?
Last year there was a stall with some donkeys and they looked really nice…that would be good to see again, but they did stink of shit and Maggot was shocked by the smallest ones willly, he kept saying “its massive its massive”.
There was a crazy disco hall too that was full of mad people; I think they shipped them in from a home, that was cool.
Most likely to order at a bar?
San Miguel and chips.
Hangover cure?
Real fruit smoothie and a jog up the hospital to laugh at all the ill people.
Do you have any festival tips?
Poo in a bag and don’t snog strangers.
Record that changed your world is….?
Sex Machine. James Brown
Any plans for 2012?
Probably get an extension on the house so there’s a place to put my doll collection in and then maybe try and keep off the junk.
Don’t take drugs kids.
Cheers Eggsy, look forward to seeing you and the guys in June (try not to break the stage this year!).
