OsFest 2012 Press Launch

I am excited…… Having been to the OsFest press launch last week, meeting the organisers along with some of the acts, and hearing some of the incredible things planned for this year I couldn’t wait to tell you all about it!

The third OsFest takes place this June at Oswestry Showground, Shropshire; Less than an hour from Liverpool, Birmingham and Manchester. It will be taking place across the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend- meaning we all get Tuesday 5th June off work to recover! Brilliant planning there by the OsFest team!!

This year sees the biggest and best line up yet! With; Razorlight, Hard-Fi, Delilah, The Big Pink, and Dappy sharing the stage with local band The Taste, Goldie Lookin Chain, L Marshall, The Colour Movement and Benjamin Farancis Leftwich. The incredible Live and Unsigned winners The Trinity Band return for their second year alongside the beautiful and talented runner up Lucy Spraggan.

To celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee OsFest has teamed up with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra on Friday 1st June for “a Brit Fest of Proms and fireworks before OsFest gets going proper”. I have always said that what OsFest does best is caters for everyone, and this just proves my point…. What a great way to include and involve more people- another string on the bow, Iron in the fire and all that…!

So, this year there will be an additional stage- Main stage, second and third stage, DJ tent, Comedy area, funfair, Jager Bar (hello!!!), Pimms bar, Wine bar and Kidzone- with lots more to be announced. The camping area is huge, and ideally located. Toilets and facilities are in abundance and tickets are cheap! What’s more to want? Early Bird tickets have already sold out, proving that this year is undoubtedly going to be the biggest yet. However, standard ticket prices are so well priced that I guarantee it will not be long before they get snapped up too.

Having been there since the beginning, this will be my third OsFest and I can honestly say I cannot wait for June. OsFest is my favorite way to start the Festi-Season and this year looks set to be the biggest and best yet!

Here are a few of my top picks from the line up released so far;

Obviously, you must check out the headliners, that is a given! I absolutely adore Razorlight, Hard-Fi, The Big Pink, and Delilah so I would defiantly recommend making a point of going to see them. Benjamin Francis Leftwich was not known to me before the lineup was announced, but having listened to his stuff in preparation (he performed on Radio 1’s Live Lounge recently) and being very impressed I shall be making sure I catch him live.

Goldie Lookin Chain have been OsFest regulars since day one, and they certainly know how to put on a show, with humor, well practiced dance routines and a real sense of fun!

If you like your music, and like something a bit different then definitely check out The Colour Movement, I first saw them at OsFest in 2010 and am so  pleased these handsome boys are back for 2012.

Shrewsbury band The Taste returns for the third year and will be on the main stage on Saturday. With influences from Kasabian, the Happy Mondays and Oasis these lot have got something special going on! Newly signed and with a single and album out this year, main stage OsFest is just the beginning for them.

Live and Unsigned winners 2011 The Trinity Band will be returning to OsFest this year, and with incredible vocals, and a fantastic tight band they will have you hooked by the second song! With a single released already this year and hype surrounding this band wherever they go, I am excited to see them for the second time.

The highlight of my OsFest 2011 was Lucy Spraggan, a female vocalist from Buxton. She went on to come second in Live and Unsigned and has gone on to release an album, record a video and has fans all over the world. I cannot wait to see what she does at Osfest 2012.

There are so many other incredible bands on the line up and more to be released, but this is just a teaser. I will be giving you regular updates of announcements and “ones to watch” between now and June.

In the meantime check out; http://www.osfest.co.uk/ for a full list of acts and information.
