Osfest 2011 Preview

Osfest 2011 takes place on the weekend of Friday 27th – Monday 30th May 2011. The Festival Born in 2010, OsFest is Shropshire biggest music festival. Set in Oswestry Showground- a 37acre site just North of Shrewsbury, Shropshire. At just over an hour from Birmingham and Liverpool, It really is a cracking location!
Last year saw Lemar, Reverend & The Makers, Vagabond, Goldie Lookin’ Chain, The Holloways, Jaguar Skills, Booty Luv, The Kayas, Shameless Faith, and Twisted Wheel hit the main stage along with many more. The smaller, more intimate stage saw the likes of The Colour Movement, The Rileys, Bad Hair day, Andy O’Brien and The Taste perform for the awesome crowd.
I was there last year, and despite the (shall we say) temperamental weather I had an incredible time. The mix of people made for a fantastic crowd and everyone was there to enjoy the experience and have fun- no pretention, just people having a laugh and enjoying the music.
This year OsFest is returning on the 27TH-30TH May and it is going to be EPIC! The lineup is incredible, with Jaguar Skills opening the festival on Friday night.
Saturday see’s Example, Tinchy Stryder, Labrinth and Goldie Lookin’ Chain hitting the main stage, along with many others.
To top it all off, on Sunday The Feeling take to the main stage as well as the legendary Boomtown Rats, The Kayers and From the Jam.
There is, of course the second stage, which is packed full of amazing talent all weekend. The Taste and Andy O’Brien return and will share the stage with My Forever and Major Major. To see you through to the early hours- the Nitro dance arena, with some of the biggest DJ’s of the moment such as Toddla T and Andy George!
This festival has really got it nailed when it comes to “something for everyone!” The camping facilities are great, with plenty of toilets and sinks- essential for a 3 day festival! There is also plenty to do on site between the music; arts and crafts, a fun fair, stalls and of course loads of food choices!
Are you sold yet?……..No! Well how about if I told you it was only £57.50 for the whole weekend- that’s 3 days camping and some seriously talented artists for less than most people would spend on one night out! I mean, seriously, it’s the last bank holiday (for a while!) and with a line up like that for less than sixty quid, how could you not?!
I know I will be there this year, and I know that in years to come I can say: “I was there from the beginning!”

And for anyone worried about missing the football, those kind people at Osfest are showing the Champions League cup final on Saturday 28th in the amazing dance tent!
So, before Labrinth, Tinchy Strider and Example hit the main stage you can chill out with a beer and watch the footy!
