MTV VMA 2011 Adele wins 3 Awards

The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards took place last night in LA at the Nokia Theatre. Big winners on the night were Katy Perry who got 3 awards which was matched by Adele, and also doing it for the ladies was Lady Gaga who won 2 awards too. The top award of the night for Best Video went to Katy Perry for her song FIrework. Katy Perry also won the best collaboration and best special effects for ET featuring Kanye West.

Britain’s Adele continue her dominance of pop music both in the UK and the US by winning 3 VMA Awards. Adele won “Best Art Direction,” “Best Cinematography,” and “Best Editing.”. The show was kicked off with a display by Lady Gaga as her alter ego Joe Calderone as she performed “You and I” Lady Gaga won the coveted best female and also a new cat Best Video with a message.

The stand out momment was a joint performance by the big men of Hip Hop Kanye West and Jay-Z. They performed their collabaration “otis” from their album Watch the Throne. There was lots of flames, smoke and pyrotechnics.

Other big performances came from Pitbull with Ne-Yo and Nayer they had 60 dancers on stage. Adele repeated her Brits pefrormance playing “Someone Like You” with just a piano and a single spotlight. It was a performance which will only build her popularity on the other side of the atlantic.

Other live performances came from Chris Brown who did a megmix of songs whilst flying from stage to stage. Beyonce confirmed she is pregnant after performing “love on Top” There was a tribute to the late AMy Winehouse. Jessie J performed too and the show closed with Lil Wayne, doing his “How to Love,” before attacking the stage in full force as the band launched into a Black Sabbath riff and before ripping into “John” from his upcoming album, “The Carter IV,”

MTV award presenters included Katy Perry, Miley Cirus, Paul Rudd, Shaun White, Will Ferrell, Jack Black, Zoe Saldana, Kevin Hart and Victoria Justice join Jonah Hill, Rick Ross, Seth Rogen, Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, Odd Future, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Lautner, Drake, Joe Jonas and Jared Leto.
