Lucy Spraggan set for National Grand Final at The O2
It’s all happening at once for Buxton singer-songwriter Lucy Spraggan. The teenager is in the Grand Final of Live and Unsigned and was recently described as the highlight of a large summer festival.
The Derbyshire girl was given the chance to play Osfest, Shropshire’s biggest festival, after being spotted in the Live and Unsigned Area Final, and she didn’t disappoint the Oswestry crowd.
Love Music journalist Sarah Dodd was impressed by the nineteen year-old and said in her review that Lucy is destined ‘to be big in the not too distant future’, comments which took Lucy aback
“When I read the Love Music review I was shocked. With so many huge bands and artists playing at Osfest I was excited to be playing at the same festival as them, let alone be described as the highlight.”

The attention surrounding Lucy Spraggan comes as she prepares to compete in the Grand Final of the UK’s biggest music competition for unsigned acts, Live and Unsigned. She’ll play The O2 in London after battling it out from more than 10,000 auditionees. This year’s final is alongside Live Fest, which’ll be London’s biggest indoor festival this summer, and Lucy can’t wait “The O2 is such a prestigious venue, to be playing it is such a buzz. I had no idea that I would come this far in the competition, I’m confident, feel ready, and can’t wait to see all the support at such an amazing venue.”
On the bill for Live Fest are urban headliners N-Dubz, as well as Tinchy Styder, Roll Deep and Tempah T. The Hoosiers will also perform at the July 23rd festival which is spread across five venues at The O2. Then there are DJ sets from The Guillemots, Funeral for a Friend and Kids in Glass Houses.

Lucy Spraggan has made many friends and admirers on her route to The O2 with her catchy choruses and quirky style making her a hard one to place in terms of genre, “I was brought up on Kirsty MacColl and Dolly Parton, but now own albums by the Beach Boys and 50 Cent and every type of music in between. I spent some time playing in New Orleans in 2010, where my music was described as ‘Flop’; where folk and pop meet. I write ballads about love lost and gained as well as songs about getting too drunk and doing stupid things. I try to make songs for everyone’s taste.”
