Kassidy Review at Doghouse Dundee 12th April 2011

It was the first time I had travelled to the new Doghouse, which is now in an old style church. As I gazed around I thought this is the perfect venue for tonight.
First up was Davey Horne, the magic of his band caught me from the first tune. With great harmonies and an amazing country feel, I’m really excited to see more of this young guy.
Up next was a voice I had came across before. Pearl and the puppets, but this time she only had one of her puppets on stage with her, a fantastic set from a girl who is making great wave’s just now.
I understood why this leg of the tour was sold out with 3 fantastic acts on the bill. Sometimes you can lose interest when the support acts don’t live up too much, but not tonight.
When Kassidy finally took to the stage, the crowd almost blew the roof off. 4 men, 4 acoustic guitars, 3 beards and 1 stomp box. With an appearance that would not have looked out of place in the 70’s! They had the crowd eating out of the palm of their hands from the first few tune’s. The four voice’s filled the room to the delight of the baying crowd. Tune’s such as “The Traveller” and ‘My God’ had the crowd singing along with every word. It was hard to believe this band are based in Glasgow with the big American feel to them. Not once did I find my mind drifting off tonight like some gigs, this band had caught me by the balls and every bit of my attention! This band is on the rocky road to stardom if they keep producing tune’s like these.

I am sure I will catch this band over the summer as the festival season kicks off. Glasgow has just found another gem.
