Parklife

Manchesters Parklife Preview 2011

All the people, so many people and they all go hand in hand, hand in hand to their… Parklife!

Parklife 2011 on the 11th and 12th of sunny (we hope) June, Platt Fields Park, Fallowfield, Manchester. All those with weekend tickets are dancing in the rain right now because this little beauty of a festival has sold out of weekend tickets. F.E.A.R not, day tickets are still up for purchasing for just £35 so all is not lost!

Parklife has been running for a few years now and seems to be getting bigger and better! I reference Ian Brown above as he played the headliner last year and was amazing! It is great value for money this year again, as it has an amazing line up of local, national and international artists all beautifully spread across Parklife’s wonderful stages. All sorts of crazy shizzle goes on, and with promoters like The Warehouse Project, I am not surprised.

Shizzle included:

‘The All New Treehouse Arena, Huge Silent Disco Marathon, Tetris Light Box Installation, Fescos Gallery and Market, Spangle Booth, Spoken Word, Dance Troupes, Magicians, Circus Performers, The Toilet Tree, Giant Inflatables, Fire Painting, Tree Hangings, Live Art Workshops, Marshal Arts Displays, Wondering Minstrels, Live Theatre, The Parklife Talent Show, Body Painting, Giant Games, Lost in Bass, The Fridged Deero, Hoola Lessons, Pole Dancing Lessons, Burlesque, Uz got Framed, Kissing Booth, Fancy Dress Shop, The Saucy Massage Parlour, Ballet, Art-a-Loos, Parklife Olympics, Food Fight World Record attempt, Village Fete and a brand new and improved Mad Ferret Garden featuring plenty more weekend nonsense…’
Silent flipping disco marathon?? Why have I not bought my ticket yet??. Unfortunately I am one of the silly folk that will be scrambling for my ticket with the masses close to the time but I highly recommend you NOT do this because there is so much to miss out on if you, well… miss out!!! Now, I know the above events are a big seller but you gotta see what else is on offer cos you will be AMAZULATED!!

Parklife is sponsored by Brothers Pear Cider, Sainsbury’s in Fallowfield (which is offering extra parking facilities) and Tuborg.
Now, as with all festivals there are a few conditions and unfortunately it is an over 18’s festival though 16-17yr olds can join if accompanied by an adult.
Gates will open at midday and the event will finish at 11.00pm as per the website and there are, if you ask any Manchester student or resident of the area, a thousand, billion buses running to and from Platt Fields Park all day. Check out the 142 or 42 service from Piccadilly Garden bus station.
