Evolution Festival 2011 Preview
Fog on the Tyne pet? Fear not, there are bands on the quayside you’ll be dying to run through fog (and more) to see. Newcastle and Gateshead’s very own Evolution Festival 2011 is here on 28-29th May, and isn’t short of experience; starting in 2002, by 2005 it was showcasing the likes of the Ordinary Boys, Futureheads and Fightstar. All is not finished there as every year this has got better and better and for a weekend pass of just £35… Yes… £35… It is well worth its pennies! I could go on about how we’ve seen Mystery Jets, Ellie Goulding, The Wombats but I won’t… Instead let’s talk about the cracking little, well… HUGE acts they have delivered you with this year!
Billy is Bragg-ing about his spot on Ballast Hills stage on Saturday evening and so he should be! The Kills make a comeback after the release of their new album ‘Blood Pressure’ and we may even get a peek of James Hince’s wife to be Miss Moss if we’re lucky. Two Door Cinema Club have their well deserved spot before the main headliner on Saturday, I say well deserved as I’m not sure who could beat a headliner like Iggy and the Stooges?! Oh aye pet, no expense spared! All that on Spillers Wharf and we’ve not even talked about the other stage yet! Katy B will be ‘on a mission’ on stage over at Baltic square along new arrival Jamie Woon who continues his UK tour with the next stop Manchester Academy on May 29th.
As if you haven’t seen enough for your tiny £35 on Saturday 28th May at Evolution without adding a Sunday line-up that you’ll want to pay more money for, it’s a STEAL! Huge Tinie Tempah, Example, Detroit Social Club, Darwin ‘flippin’ Deez and a night-cap of Plan B at Spillers Wharf. Annie Mac and Caribou will be seeing out the late Sunday evening over on the Baltic stage! I’d be here all day going through some of the amazing talents both old and new but I think you’d be more impressed with a look yourselves Official Evolution Festival Website
