Interview with the Colour Movement for Firefly 2012
With Firefly Festival just round the corner Love Music News caught up with Leonardo from The Colour Movement to get his thoughts on the festival, as well as a few other pressing matters!
Hey Leo, thanks for chatting with us, you must be mad busy at the moment with “festi-season” well upon us. You’ve played a couple of gigs in Shropshire over the years, what do you think of the fans?
The fans from Shropshire have always been loving life. Away from the portentous vibes.
Making you feel relaxed and excited.
Firefly Festival is a completely different vibe to some of the festivals you’ve played at, such as download. Do you, as a band, like mixing it up a bit?
It’s great to have a mix of festivals on the calendar, not only can you promote your music to lots of different scene’s but you share some of the best experiences along the way.
Your new single and video for “Roots” is very slick, the sound is so original. Is that the idea you were going for?
The concept of the roots vibe was a lot more processed than The Colour Movement’s new sound.
We are very excited to play our new stuff at all the forthcoming festivals.
The sound is not as clean but much more exciting
What do you enjoy most about festival gigs?
The energy at festivals is so pure and free.
People who work in the city can come to a big field and loose themselves for 3 days in complete happiness.
Being on stage you can really feel that energy.
Do you have any festival tips to share?
Always pack a special outfit.
The festival is set in incredibly beautiful surroundings; will you guys be making the most of them while you are there?
If the surroundings are beautiful at festivals I always soak up as much of it as possible.
When you are not on stage what do you normally get up to at festivals?
I love exploring at a festival as it is your own world to roam freely, not caring about anything but having a ball with loads old and new friends
Thanks again for speaking to us Leo. Look forward to seeing you at Firefly in August.
