T in the Park, first introduced in 1994 has seen a success exceeding all anticipation. First taking place in Strathclyde Park the event has transformed from a Scottish celebration of good music to Scotland’s best known musical festival. Catering for all ears the event has housed not only the best names in Britpop but as later years would have it international pop and urban superstars; as is especially demonstrated by this years line-up.

Headlining Friday are Irish indie band Snow Patrol touring their sixth studio album ‘Fallen Empires’. As a Glasgow based band the event is one of undoubted importance: ‘T in the Park is a great festival to play for, we’ve played here so many times it’s like coming home’ – Gary Lightbody. If this is not to your taste many other acts set out to satisfy your animalistic musical urges. Returning to TITP is Brit award winning Florence and the machine and rap star Tinie Tempah. Appearances shall also be made by the rejuvenated sound of New Order and the contemporary indie pop band Miike Snow.

For many the ticket price alone willl be worth hearing the opening notes of ‘I Am the Resurrection’ as The Stone Roses make their comeback. Getting the festivities in full swing the band shall headline on Saturday night. Also returning on the Saturday to the delight of their fans is Noel Gallagher with new band ‘Noel Gallagher and The High Flying Birds’. Arguably replacing Liam Gallagher’s ‘Beady Eye’ which are not returning after their T appearance last year. The rivalry continues. In addition to this, stellar live performances are promised from The Maccabees, Two Door Cinema Club and the Scottish favourites Simple Minds.

Lastly closing the festival for a second time are Sunday headliners and T favourites Kasabian, touring new album ‘Velociraptor’. The musical diversity continues with dance act Swedish House Mafia and Hip-Hop queen Nicki Minaj both putting on shows on the last day of the festival. Moreover, Happy Mondays and Miles Kane are also play the Sunday – confirming that the event has stayed firm to its alternative indie roots whilst catering for other musical tastes. It is a festival for the eclectic, and one not to be missed.
