Florence and the Machine to take a break from Music after December
Florence Welch is set to take a break from the music industry once her tour with Florence and the Machine ends in December.
Speaking to the London Evening Standard, the Brit Award winning artist insists she needs a break from the music, after a hectic five years with little time off to spend with friends and family. Before writing a follow up to her critically acclaimed album Ceremonials she needs to be ‘inspired again.’
She said: “”I’ve been on tour since I was 21. I need a break and to have the chance to do normal things, like go to the supermarket and hang out with my friends.
“I’ve only just moved out of my mum’s house, so I’d like to settle into my new place and start getting inspired again. If I started writing songs now, all they’d be about is tour buses and hotel rooms.”
However, during her time off Florence plans to keep herself busy, as she revealed she is planning to write a musical with one of her old friends from school Sopie Hart Walsh. She said “It would be amazing to get it into the World End. That’s obviously the dream goal.”
“We always used to write songs about our lives and sing them to each other. We always said we should make them into a musical.” she added.
Florence and the Machine conclude their Ceremonials Tour next month with a string of arena shows across the UK and Ireland. The final leg of the tour kicks off at the Exeter Westpoint Arena on the 4th and runs till the 12th were they conclude the tour at the O2 Arena in Dublin. They also have two dates at the London’s O2 Arena on the 5th and 6th, and shows at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on the 8th, the AECC in Aberdeen on the 7th and the Echo Arena in Liverpool on the 10th.
