The killers confirmed to headline Hard rock calling 2011
It was announced today the third headliner for the internationally known Hard Rock Calling Festival will be non-other than the welcomly returned Stadium Rock titans commonly known as The Killers.
The Las Vegan four piece, who last performed in the UK (in support of their million selling third album, Day & Age) back in 2009 will be marking their live return following a brief hiatus, at the Hyde Park based festival on Friday 24th June.
Following six years of intensive touring, the band went their separate ways for a two year period, but couldn’t resist staying in the studio. Lead Vocalist Brandon Flowers was particularly successful with hometown homage, the glamorous bombast that was Flamingo, which topped the UK charts last year and spawned numerous festival appearances and headline shows. Additionally, a record from the band’s drummer Ronnie Vannucci is expected this summer. Vannucci in particular is very excited to return to the touring circuit with his band reinstated, and ready to showcase some new material for fans.
“It’s been too long, friends… Feels like forever since we’ve seen each other and now it’s time we pay a visit. Have to get the machine oiled and ready to make this kinda thing happen more often. Feeling creative, let’s do this.”
The Killers have now reunited to begin writing a new record, and plan to celebrate with a career spanning show that will encompass hits from their three studio albums to date: ‘Hot Fuss’ (2004), ‘Sam’s Town’ (2006) and ‘Day & Age’ (2008)), as well as fan favourites from their 2007’s B Sides and Rarities LP, Sawdust.
“The Killers rocked the stage at Hard Rock Calling 2009,” said Hamish Dodds, President and CEO of Hard Rock International. “And we’re extremely excited to have them back this year for an encore performance.”
With Peter Gabriel, Pearl Jam and The Police to name but a few, Hard Rock Calling boasts a stellar line-up of artists already with plenty more to announce.
Tickets are on sale Thursday 21st 9am available at www.hardrockcalling.co.uk. Friday tickets will be priced at £49.50, with booking fee.
